NASS To Probe Super Eagles New Jersey Colour

Following wide condemnation that trailed the new jersey for Nigeria’s national teams and Super Eagles at the World Cup in Brazil, House of Representative Committee on sports has vowed to investigate motive behind the changing of national team jerseys from their traditional green-white-green colour to lemon green.
Speaking to newsmen, chairman of the committee, Hon Godfrey Ali Gaiya also expressed reservation about the colour of the new jerseys for national teams.
“The colour was not the traditional green of our national colour. I would have preferred the green we were used to, that is, the green and white colour of our national flag.
I believe those that designed them may have their reason. I wouldn’t know if it was designed in favour of NFF sponsors, Globacom. But since it has been mentioned, we will go and look into it. Whatever we find out we will let the world know if there were motives by behind the new jerseys,” he said.
The two new jerseys which were unveiled last Thursday was designed by German kit manufacturers, Adidas, which is also an official equipment partner of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Meanwhile NFF general secretary, Musa Amadu had explained that the colour of the new jersey which has lemon green as its main colour, strike a balance between tradition and innovation. He insisted that the colour has nothing to do with the official colour of telecommunication giants, Globacom.
