A young man, Ben Maycock, who was left with a horrific head images after a savage hammer attack years has taken his first steps unaided.

Mr Maycock has taken his first steps unaided, four years after being left with a huge dent in his head.
The 21-year-old man was just minutes from death after spending three weeks in a coma following the attack.
His grief-stricken family were told to prepare for the worst but doctors at Queens Medical Centre, Nottinghamshire, managed to save his life by cutting away his skull to relieve swelling.

Mr Maycock, from Leicester, has now begun walking for the first time after being confined to a wheelchair when he left hospital.
