An airplane has allegedly crashed into the sea minutes ago near Spain's Canary Islands.
A local radio station reported about the incident off the coast of Gran Canaria with Boeing 737 jet, however, the airline and the number of people onboard are unknown.
The picture below has appeared on the web as the confirmation of these first reports.
Meanwhile, Spanish officials said reports that an aircraft had crashed into the sea off Spain's island of Gran Canaria are a "false alarm".
Spain's airports association AENA said that a boat had been mistaken for a plane.
A spokeswoman for the Canary Island emergency services also confirmed that the staff mistook a large tugboat pulling a ship for a crashed plane two miles off the coast.
