The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Muhammad Hurdi, disclosed this on Tuesday in Katsina at a news briefing.
Hurdi said that decision was reached at the State Security Council meeting, following the killing of three policemen on Monday in Kusada Local Government area by gunmen on motorcycles.
He said that the restriction was applicable to both private and commercial motorcycles in the state.
“Whosoever violates the order will face the wrath of the law.
“This restriction is aimed at preventing criminals from using motorcycles and tricycles to commit crimes,” he said.
Hurdi also said that the policemen and soldiers would be deployed to all entries to the state to ‘conduct stop-and-search’ exercise to ensure security of lives and property.
He explained that the security at the state’s borders with Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Zamfara and Niger Republic would be improved.
According to him, the measure is to curtail criminals from entering the state and committing criminal acts.
The commissioner urged the members of the public to report any suspicious movement to the nearest security agency for prompt action.
