On Sunday, suspected Fulani herdsmen wreaked havoc in Gbajimba town, headquarters of Guma LGA of Benue State, burning multiple houses and killing dozens of local residents.
One of the local residents, Mr. James S. Gbudu, gives an account of the most recent attacks on the Tiv farmers.
Mr. Brian says he got little sleep on the night of the attack, as his thoughts were preoccupied with those displaced and left without shelter by the armed killers. The next morning, he went to the General hospital, North Bank, in Makurdi, and was shocked at the sight of dying victims.
He says he saw numerous dead bodies of innocent victims - men, children and women, some of whom were pregnant - scattered around the hospital premises. A total of 80 dead bodies were discovered as of today, March, 25, while some persons are still missing. Local residents believe they will find more remains in the following days.
The injured persons were taken to the Federal Medical Center, Makurdi, and Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.
Mr. Gbudu says he could not help but cry and pray for the sould of innocent victims.
