Durex ditches hand helds to hold hands this earth hour

Global leader and number one sexual well being brand worldwide, Durex, will be celebrating Earth Hour this March by encouraging people to take the opportunity to reconnect with each other whilst the lights are out

Although the wonders of technology help to bring people together, is it a key factor in also keeping them apart? With today’s couples interacting with their devices more than each other, are gadgets and gizmos getting in the way of intimacy and the main reason behind the fact that people are having 20% less sex than in 2000? Continue...

With 20% of US 18-34 year olds admitting to having used a smartphone during sex (Nielsen) and Twitter users on average having shorter relationships than non users (OK Cupid) -is tech just turning us off?

Durex believes nothing should get in the way of great sex but our growing obsession with
phones, laptops, TVs and iPads isn’t bringing us closer together, it’s pushing us apart. So, let’s log off and switch off; escape the screen to embrace the dark and for couples everywhere to reconnect whilst the lights are off.

By not only turning off all lights on 29 March, but also switching off all tech, people can use this opportunity as an excuse to swap their laptops for some loving and ditch their phones to enjoy some foreplay.  Enjoy an hour in the dark reconnecting with the one you love; Let’s turn off to turn on!

As a call to action, Durex is releasing a short film which follows the stories of several couples who, like most of us, have become distracted by the lure of a screen and can be viewed on YouTube from 19 March http://www.youtube.com/user/DurexEarthHour #turnofftoturnon

This film is a passionate plea to escape the screen and embrace the physical. This Earth Hour, it’s time to reconnect with each other and turn off to turn on.
