On Wednesday, President Goodluck Jonathan ordered cancellation of the notorious immigration recruitment exercise with immediate effect.
Today's announcement was made by Information Minister, Labaran Maku, who briefed reporters after the Federal Executive Council's meeting.
He made it known that anyone who lost their loved ones would be granted automatic slot for three applicants (one of them must be a woman). Also, those injured at the venue would be employed automatically.
The Minister further disclosed that another recruitment exercise would be conducted under the Chairmanship of the Federal Civil Service Commission with an inter-ministerial panel.
The Federal Government cancelled all ongoing recruitment exercise by its ministries, departments, and agencies, apart from the army and police.
It would be recalled that last Saturday, dozens of applicants were killed in the stampede at various job screening centers across Nigeria, while scores have sustained injuries. The applicants gathered together to write the aptitude test and apply for jobs within the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The Government also condoled with the families of the victims and vowed to prevent this kind of tragedies in the future. President Jonathan would meet the families of the deceased as soon as he returns from a trip to abroad to express his personal condolences.
