18 road accident casualties were rescued by the convoy of Ekiti state Governor Kayode Fayemi on Sunday.
The accident took place Ife-Ibadan road, a few kilometres to Ikire, Osun State. The Ado-Ekiti-bound commercial bus reportedly overturned on its way from Ibadan.
It was said in a statement by the Governor's Chief press secretary Yinka Oyebode that Mr. Fayemi, who was on his way to Lagos, stopped his convoy at the scene of the crash, and derected his personal doctor to provide first aid to the victims. Then, he arranged their transfer to the nearest medical facility.
According to the statement, the Governor presented each victim some cash to pay for their medical bills, as well as compensated their luggage loss.
Although all the bus' passengers reportedly sustained injuries, there were no deaths.
