Politicians allied to the Jubilee alliance on Friday flocked
Catholic University in the outskirts of Nairobi where a podium has been
prepared for Uhuru Kenyatta to address the nation should he win the
presidential contest in the first round.
Mr Kenyatta is leading with 5, 453, 347 votes
against Raila Odinga's 4, 732, 029 votes tith results from 254
constituencies counted.
Tents have been erected outside the main auditorium at the University, with elaborate security and media arrangements.
Eye of those at the venue are trained on the
television screens as they await for IEBC commissioners to announce
results of the remaining constituencies and declare the winner of the
presidential contest.
Among those who arrived at the media centre on Friday included former Naivasha MP John Mututho who failed to recapture his seat.
Others were Mr Kembi Gitura (Senator Murang’a), Mr
Kipchumba Murkomen ( Senator Elgeyo Marakwet), Ekwe Ethuro (Senator
Turkana) and Mr Asman Kamama.
Mr Kenyatta is expected at the venue after IEBC announces the winner of the presidential contest.
The arrival of the politicians at the venue indicates optimism for a first round victory.
The optimism is however a guarded one especially
after concerns of possible errors and missed entries were raised over
the tallying process
