Imoke splashes N30m on Super Eagles, officials


 Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke on Wednesday announced cash donation of N25m to players and coaches of the Super Eagles of Nigeria and N5m for the Nigerian Football Federation.
Imoke made the donation in the Executive chambers, Government House in Calabar while receiving the 2013 AFCON trophy won by the team in South Africa.

He also announced that the state government would give a plot of land to each member of  the in choice area of Calabar metropolis.
According to him, Certificate of Occupancy will be given to the players as soon as possible and enjoined them to develop the plots quickly to begin to enjoy the serene atmosphere in the city.
“This gesture is to show our appreciation for your hard work, commitment, and dedication to your fatherland. You can always count on us for support,” he said.
He said that the victory of the team in South Africa was a great lesson to all Nigerians, adding that when nobody gave them a chance, they braved all odds.
The governor said he was so excited in the victory of the boys, especially as they progressed in the championship against other football giants in Africa.
