Former board member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Elder Dickson Adejube, has urged the nation’s football governing body, NFF to motivate the Golden Eaglets towards lifting the Africa Under-17 Championship trophy tomorrow in Morocco.
Adejube also commended the team for reaching the final of the ongoing cadets event: “Now that the Eaglets have qualified for the final, I urge the Nigeria Football Federation to give the team the necessary motivation to bring the trophy home,” Adejube stressed.
Speaking in a telephone chat with Daily Sunsports, the one time strongman of Ondo State Football Association described the performance of the Garba Manu-tutored lads as heart-warming, especially considering the fact that Nigeria failed to qualify for the last two editions of the Africa’s cadet soccer championship.
“I wish to congratulate the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Golden Eaglets for qualifying for the final at the on-going Africa Under-17 Championship in Morocco” he began.
“The performance of the Golden Eaglets is heart-warming, particularly, when you consider the fact that Nigeria did not qualify for the last two editions of the tournament.”
The retired soldier and referee also called on the League Management Company (LMC) and the Club Managers to close their ranks even as he called on the Nigeria Football Federation to be impartial in its effort at resolving the crisis.
“I am appealing to the League Management Committee and the Club Managers to sink their differences in the interest of Nigerian Football.
At the same time, I urge the NFF to remain an impartial judge in its effort at resolving the matter because if the Club Owners pull out of the league, football will die in the country,” Adejube reasoned.
