APC, A “Time Bomb” That Will Explode Soon —PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday described the All Progressives Congress, APC, the mega party formed by some opposition parties in the country, as a “time bomb’’ that would soon explode.
The Chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State, Makanjuola Ogundipe, said this in Ado-Ekiti while receiving a letter of intent to contest the governorship poll in the state from Dayo Adeyeye.
Mr. Adeyeye was the former Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board. Mr. Ogundipe, who accused APC leaders of selfishness, warned Nigerians to steer clear of the proposed party.
The PDP boss also said his party was not disturbed by the increasing number of aspirants in the state, saying it was a manifestation of democracy at play. “That is democracy in action and that is the best way to allow for openness and transparency in the congress of any serious political party.
“PDP believes in crowd and participatory democracy; there won’t be any imposition and there will not be a favoured candidate among them all. “It will be our joy even if the figure rises to 50,” he said. Submitting his letter, Mr. Adeyeye said that he joined the race to rescue the state from those he called “usurpers.’’
He said lack of tolerance on the part of the state government led to the destruction of bill boards and campaign posters of opposition figures. “The ACN (Action Congress of Nigeria) government in Ekiti lacks tolerance and could not accommodate the opposition.
“It embarked on the destruction of bill boards erected in strategic locations in the state capital.
“The bill boards belong to all PDP aspirants, including myself, and this was done despite paying the heavy bills charged by the government, ” he said.
