Four kidnappers plead for forgiveness

WARRI — FOUR suspected kidnappers nabbed by men of the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Effurun, Delta State have confessed to have been involved in various abduction escapades and pleaded with the military authorities to forgive them.

The confessed kidnappers belonging to the notorious Kelvin group terrorizing DeltaState are Messrs Joel Agbu, Best Mene, Jonathan Umukoro and Julius Erere.

Parading the suspects among 26 others at the 3 Battalion Barracks, Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Ifeanyi Otu, disclosed that Joel Agbu was arrested at Aka Avenue along Jakpa Road, in Effurun, Uvwie council area of the state while attempting to sell a Nissan Primera saloon car with  number plate Lagos PJ 339 AAA.

He said Joel Agbu's confession led to the arrest of Mene and Umukoro in Benin City, EdoState where they are based by men of the 4 Brigade Headquarters while Julius Erere was arrested in Warri.

Jonathan who spoke to newsmen at the parade ground said they were actually kidnappers and had been in the nefarious business for quite a long time before nemesis caught up with them. He pleaded with the soldiers to forgive them with a promise never to engage in the act anymore.

Joel Agbu had on April 29 kidnapped one Mrs Ebi Leizou and snatched her  Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number Abuja ABXC 910 AE where he collected a ransom of over #1.4m from her family.

Lt. Col Out warned criminal elements to leave the state or be prepared to face the full wrath of the Army, even as another set of 5 suspected kidnappers were arrested at the home of a notable Chief in Kokori town, promising to bring down the edifice in line with  the state government resolve to destroy homes or buildings from where criminals operates.
