‘Becoming a solo artiste wasn’t strenuous’

Bukola Ladigbolu

Gospel artiste, Bukola Ladigbolu, says transforming into a solo artiste was not strenuous as she had always been in a church choir.
Speaking in an interview, she recalls that on some occasions, she had problems with her voice but had to keep working because of the passion she has for music.
“I was in the Redeemed Choir for a while before I became a solo artiste. It was a very strenuous thing working in the studio, training my voice. There was a time I did not get it and I had to go and keep repeating voice training. I once lost my voice, it was completely gone but we went back and still kept going back. There was a time I was ill but we needed to complete that work.
“It was not like in the choir when you back some people up. It was not an easy experience; but because of the passion, it seemed less challenging for me. I did not see it as a big deal that time, I loved what I was doing but it was strenuous,” Ladigbolu said.
The gospel act said that she would not find it difficult adjusting to stardom as she has always been a crowd-person.
“I would be able to cope because I have always been a woman of the crowd. That is just my life. I am a very outspoken person. I am not an indoor person, I like relating with people. When I served, I had a training for teenagers, I organised something for them in Ondo around 1999-2000.
“I organised a talk for a whole secondary school where we talked about premarital sex. So the crowd has not been anything to me,” she added.
The artiste said it has not been easy combining home with work but she is grateful to her husband for his support.
“It has not been easy combining all the work I do with my home. I am journalist so I close late. Sometimes, I close as late as midnight. It has not been easy but it is the grace of God. There was a time I felt like quitting my job and going fully into music, especially when I saw my CDs at home.
“I have not been going around with them and I needed to do the video for them as my marketer, Remdel, advised. It has not been easy. My husband has been very supportive; it is what I am enjoying. He loves what I am doing. The fact that he has a wife that is into so many things, he knows the support is important.”
