Oyinlola: I Stay In PDP As Long As I Remain Its National Secretary

The embattled National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olagunsoye Oyinlola, stated he was not defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He added that he remained the PDP'a National Secretary as pronounced by the Abuja Court of Appeal on November 6.
Oyinlola said this in a telephone interview on the Raypower FM radio programme on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the 'new PDP' announced they joined the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). Two of the seven governors belonging to the nPDP, Sule Lamido (Jigawa) and Babangida Aliyu (Niger) said they were still in the ruling party.
Oyinlola, who is also the National Secretary of the splinter PDP, confirmed that he attended the meeting where the decision to merge with APC was taken. He said, however, he would remain in the PDP until a superior court upturned the November 6 judgement of the Appellate Court which reinstated him as the national secretary.
According to Oyinlola, he was not part of those that decided to move to the APC.
"We had consultations and we have been having meetings. Yesterday, some people decided to move on. I as the National Secretary have no alternative than to remain because the Court of Appeal said I was validly elected. Until a superior court reverses that I remain the National Secretary of the PDP," he said.
It will be recalled that the aggrieved governors of the PDP announced their decision to merge with the APC in the afternoon of November 26, 2013, Tuesday, at the meeting at Kano Governor’s Lodge.
