Lai Mohammed, the interim publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced his opinion about the current incident with Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, which saw the Governor telling a widow to "go and die".
It will be recalled that Mr. Oshiomhole is in a predicament after his remarks about a widow have become viral and earned public outcry.
In a recent video, the Governor is seen issuing an order to confiscate some goods of a resident of the state, who was allegedly a road side hawker. The woman was accused of breaking traffic laws. Upon hearing her pleas for mercy on grounds that she was a widow, the Governor infamously retorted, "You are a widow, go and die."

The statement angered many Nigerians both within and outside the country.
Commenting on this while speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast programme on Saturday, Mr. Lai Mohammed explained that "running a state is not about popularity, but about doing the right thing. In doing so, you are probably going to step on certain toes."
He then added that his own experience in government gives him knowledge that harsh decisions must be taken.
However, Mr. Mohammed did not approve of Governor Oshiomhole's conduct, but rather justified it: "'I'm just saying that in some circumstances, you take decisions which are very unpleasant."
