A few months after he returned to Nigeria from the United States of America, where he lived for about 12 years, Mike Okri is back on the beat.
The popular singer, whose hit songs, ‘Omoge’ and ‘Rhumba Dance’, dominated the Nigerian music scene in the 1980s, is currently sweating it out in a recording studio somewhere in Ikeja, Lagos.
There is talk about a new album in the making, one that is aimed at ‘shocking’ music lovers as soon as it is completed.
When E-PUNCH spoke with him on the phone, Okri declined to comment on the work-in-progress. He pleaded with our correspondent to wait till he has finished working on the album.
A source at the studio said the singer has been working with Omawumi, Olamide, Ras Kimono and Michella on the album these past weeks. He said Okri may be experimenting on a new style, which will be made known to the public soon.
