The governor said this in Minna on Tuesday while reacting to reports that he and  others were planning to leave the PDP in protest against the outcome of the elections in the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.
He said this in a statement  by his Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo, a copy of which was made available to our Correspondent in Abuja.
Aliyu  said the rumour about his planned defection was a figment of the imagination of those who did not wish the ruling party well.
The statement said, “The story of planned defection of Governor (Babangida) Aliyu is a figment of imagination of persons, who are either threatened by the successes the party has made in the last 14 years or are afraid of squaring up with the party in 2015 general elections.”
He added that, such people were afraid of squaring up to the PDP at the polls in 2015.
The statement quoted the Governor as saying he was embarrassed by the orchestrated attempt to impugn on his hard earned integrity.
Stressing that he remained “a committed democrat, principled politician and a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
He was also quoted as saying as the leader of the PDP in his state, he is one of the pillars of the party and would continue to work to make it stronger and united in the larger interest of the nation.
The statement urged the general public to disregard any report purporting to suggest that Governor Aliyu is planning to leave the PDP.
