The popular Oba Adesida road in Akure, the capital of Ondo State has been paralyzed by students of tertiary institutions under the aegis of National Association of Ondo State Student (NAOSS) who embarked street protest over the government refusal to fully pay their bursary allowances.
The students from Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA), and Ondo State School of Health Technology Akure (OSSHT) have been asking the Ondo State government to pay their allowances since last year.
Many of the protesting students are accusing the state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of neglecting them and diverting monies meant for student bursary to finance the upcoming Federal House of Representatives by-election billed for Saturday in Ilaje constituency.
