"We Are Tired Of Taking Other People's Lives", Pirates Surrender Weapons To Police

Two sea pirates have handed over three firearms to Akwa Ibom State Police Command, pledging not to continue with the crime.
It's been learnt that the weapons which the pirates surrendered to the police were three locally-made single-barrelled pistols.
It was gathered that the pirates said they were tired of taking other people’s lives and had to resign to their fate by submitting themselves and their weapons to the police.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, who confirmed this in Uyo on Thursday, explained that the command had put up strategies to curb the activities of pirates, kidnappers, and armed robbers in the state.
He said, “Three pirates willingly submitted two locally-made pistols to the command. They also promised not to go back to the crime.”
The activities of the high sea pirates have been common in Mbo Local Government of Akwa Ibom State. They steal outboard engines and boats.
It was said that because of the proliferation of the pirate activities on the high seas, fishermen and boat operators have refused to go back to the seas.
