Kidnappers Abduct Europe Returnee In Enugu, Demand N30 Million

A ransom of N30 million naira has been placed on Mr. Malite Onyibo, who was kidnapped last Wednesday, alongside his maternal brother Cajethan Nweke.
Cajethan, a building material merchant and Malite, who just returned from Europe for a programme was abducted by suspected kidnappers at Olo community in Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State.
A source told DailyPost that they were kidnapped at Nkwo Olo Market where they had gone out to take some drinks with a friend, identified as Cyril Agudike.
The source disclosed that Cyril was left with a head injury, adding that the gunmen zoomed off with the two victims after firing several gun shots into the air.
He described the incident as the first of its kind in the community, stressing that “nobody was suspecting that such could happen in Olo town considering the peaceful nature of the town.

“We thought that the abductors equally came to drink, but when they started shooting and ordered the two brothers to lie down, it became crystal clear what their mission was”.
“We have been hearing about kidnapping, but we didn’t know they would come into our village to carry out their nefarious activities” he stressed.
Meanwhile, a family source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the kidnappers had commenced negotiation with the family, demanding for N30 million ransom.
“How can we raise that kind of money. We are pleading with them to release our brothers, they are two young men from a family. Loosing them would be too heavy for the family to bear”, he pleaded.
Enugu state police image maker, DSP Ebere Amarizu confirmed the incident, explaining that the family had reported the matter to Enugu State anti-kidnap unit.
He said the state police Command had swooped into action.
