Pablo Zabaleta has enjoyed a standout season at Manchester City, but admits it will mean nothing if he ends it empty-handed.

The Argentine has been among City's most consistent performers during a campaign which has seen too many of their key men allow their standards to dip.

The 28-year-old, who has nailed down the right-back berth in Roberto Mancini's plans, is, however, aware that he can only consider the season to have been a success if he ends up toasting an FA Cup final win.

After helping City past Chelsea in a semi-final date at Wembley on Sunday, Zabaleta said: "I have enjoyed the season and being a regular in the team has been fantastic, but it will be even better if we can win the FA Cup.
"The Premier League is the one everyone wants but we know how important the FA Cup is and winning it would be a great end to the season.

"A team like City need to keep winning a trophy every year."

City are facing up to the prospect of seeing their Premier League crown snatched away by arch-rivals Manchester United, but Zabaleta says the future is looking bright for the Blues.

He added: "We have fantastic players in the team, good names, but also we show a great spirit. We fight for each other.

"We are learning a lot of things. We are a very young group in the sense we haven't been together that long. Also, when we show that spirit and everyone gives everything for each other, Manchester City is a difficult team to beat."
