A female student, of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree whose identity could not be ascertained was on Monday evening crushed to death by a lorry at the popular Poly junction in Iree.
The student was said to be a Higher National Diploma (HND) student of the institution.
It was reliably gathered that the vehicle, which crushed the student was coming from Ila Orangun axis of the road while the student and her other colleagues were discussing at the Poly junction when the driver of the vehicle lost control.
According to sources at the area, two other students of the institution sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.
One of the injured students was said to have completed her National Diploma programme at the institution but only went to the school to perfect her records.
It was learnt that the corpse of the deceased student has been deposited at a government hospital, while the injured students were receiving treatment at the hospital.
The driver of the lorry, who narrowly escaped being lynched by irate students of the institution was said to have been arrested by the Police alongside his vehicle.
