Osun woos traditional rulers on state devt

Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori, has said the state government will work together with traditional rulers to fast-track the progress of the state.
She said this on Tuesday, at an interactive session with members of Ijesha North Traditional Council, in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government of the state.
She explained that the state’s policies and programmes would be structured in a way that the traditional leaders would not be left out.
Laoye-Tomori said, “Collective wisdom, especially of the royal institutions is needful for the stabilisation and progress of the state.
“The Osun State Government will continue to factor positive thoughts and ideas of traditional leaders into the implementations of its policies and programmes.”
The forum, which the deputy governor described as “strategic” is seen as a way of keeping the government on the right track.
She added, “This town hall meeting will be taken round the nine federal constituencies, with a view to carrying all stakeholders along.”
Laoye-Tomori said the monarchs should engage the youths in agricultural programmes in their various communities, and described this as an opportunity for youths in the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Festus Agunbiade, shared the same view, saying, “Youths in the area have not taken full advantage of government policy on agriculture.”
State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Wale Adedoyin, said the state government would provide fund and farm inputs to farmers using the co-operative societies.
Chairman of the council of traditional rulers, the Owa-Ooye of Imesi-Ile, Oba Enoch Akinyemi, urged the state government to gainfully engage the youths, saying it would reduce poverty in the communities.
Assistant Director of the Community Forum, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said the session is to help the government in achieving a productive result.
Oyintiloye, a facilitator at the forum, said, “There is a need for stakeholders at the interactive forum to bear their minds with a view to assisting the government achieve overall result.
“The Osun State Government is committed to developing the state and return it to the path of glory.”
The efforts of the state government on the ongoing road construction projects in respective communities were appreciated by the traditional leaders.
