Islam Not Conflict-Prone Religion – Olomojobi

A university teacher, Mr. Yinka Olomojobi, on Thursday said Islam was not a conflict-prone religion.

Olomojobi, who teaches at Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, stated this in Lagos during the presentation of his book, Islam and Conflict in Nigeria.

He said, “There are lots of misconception about Islam and we cannot continue to look at it from the western point of view. For several ethnic groups residing in the north, Islam is social glue, which binds them together. We need to look at Islam from both sides.”

The book reviewer, Mr. Steven Faletimin, described it as an expose of how the political elite manipulated Islam.

He said, “This is a well-researched account of Muslim/Christian relationships over the years. It aptly describes those, who instigate mayhem and violence on the platform of Islam as devious and spitting on the teachings of Mohammed.”

The Chief of Staff to Kaduna State Governor, Dr. Yaahata Amina, who said the publication of the book was timely, added that it would help in creating awareness and advocacy about the religion.
