FG’s anti-corruption fight weak – Bishops

Two Catholic Bishops, Most Rev Leke Abegunrin, and Most Rev Ade Badejo, on Friday described the anti-corruption fight by the Federal Government as “repulsive.”
The bishops spoke at a news conference held at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Osogbo, to herald the golden jubilee of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo.
Badejo said it was unfortunate that the Federal Government did not conduct a referendum for Nigerians to take a position on the pardon granted to a former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, stressing that the loots stolen by those pardoned have not been returned to the nation’s coffers.
Badejo, who is the Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, said, “Pardon comes with restitution Have those pardoned apologised to Nigerians? Have they returned what they have stolen?”
Also speaking, Abegunrin faulted Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, for donating of school uniforms to Osun students and giving primary school students free meals daily.
