Fire gutted the 22-storey Great Nigeria House along Martins Street on Lagos Island in the early hours of today. State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, etc are still battling to contain the fire.
Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said he received the distress call around 6.34 a.m. that the building was on fire but are yet to confirm the cause of the fire.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that a yet to be identified fire service personnel was injured and taken away for medical attention, while another hoodlum got injured as a result of stampede.
The 22-storey Great Nigeria House, acclaimed as the fifth tallest building in Nigeria, accommodates Mainstreet Bank and also serves as warehouses to some traders. More pics after cut…
