FIFA executive committee member Chuck Blazer has been hit with a provisional 90-day ban by the football organisation's Ethics Committee.
Blazer is being investigated for fraud within the CONCACAF confederation along with former president Jack Warner. World football's governing body has subsequently decided to stand Blazer down.
A statement from FIFA read: "The decision (to ban Blazer) was taken following a request made by the acting deputy chairman of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, Robert Torres, based on the fact that various breaches of the FIFA Code of Ethics appear to have been committed by Chuck Blazer and that a decision on the main issue could not be taken early enough.
"The investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee previously opened investigation proceedings against Chuck Blazer in response to the final report of the CONCACAF Integrity Committee."
Blazer, the former general secretary of the CONCACAF federation, became known as the 'whistleblower' after making bribery allegations against Warner and then Asian Football Confederation president Mohamed Bin Hammam in the run-up to FIFA's presidential election in June 2011.
