Taraba State Governor, Mr. Danbaba Danfulani Suntai, who is undergoing treatment in Germany after surviving a plane crash in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, Tuesday assured Nigerians that he would soon return home.
An online statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, who is part of a government delegation to Germany to ascertain the governor’s recovery rate, said the governor gave the assurance during his interaction with his visitors.
The delegation, which included Jalingo Council Chairman, Hassan Bappa, Bello, the Hakimi of Garba Chede, Alhaji Hashimu Kaigama and a Senior Assistant to the Governor, Mallam Aminu Babale, visited him at the physiotherapy centre of the German hospital in Hanover.
Suntai, who was flown abroad in October 2012, was also said to have spoken on phone with some prominent  Nigerians, including the House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Istifanus Haruna Gbana, a member representing Karim-Lamido I, Hon. Charles Maijankai, Commissioner for Education, Mr. Yakubu Agbaizo, and a former National Security Adviser (NSA), General Aliyu Gusau. He   expressed his gratitude to them and to the nation for the concern shown him in his moment of travail.
“I am coming back with happiness very soon,” Bello quoted the governor as saying in his statement.
Bello said Suntai  commended the leadership of the state House of Assembly for being “resilient and patriotic.”
“In all the conversations, Suntai was expressing gratitude for the concern shown him in this moment of trial,”  he added.
Bello left for Germany last Sunday on the directive  of  the state Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar.
Umar had explained that the trip was aimed at ascertaining the state of health of the governor with a view to letting the people know about his condition.
