The Minister of Information,
Mr. Labaran Maku, on Monday declined speaking with journalists on the
seven foreign hostages killed by an Islamist sect, Ansaru.
When he was approached by
State House correspondents on the position of the Federal Government on
the incident, Maku said he had not been fully briefed.
“I don’t have the full brief to brief you,” he said as he walked
briskly out of the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he had earlier
attended a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.
When he was further asked to comment on the listing of Nigeria as a
terrorist state by France over the incident, the minister kept mum.
Since the sect on Saturday
announced the killing of the foreigners abducted from a construction
site in Bauchi State, the Federal Government had not reacted to the
incident.
Efforts to get the Presidency’s reaction had not yielded any
positive result so far as the telephone lines of the Special Adviser to
the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, had remained
switched off.
It was learn t on Monday that Abati was out of the country.
