Monaco eye Tevez-Rooney reunion

Yesterday it was Tevez. Today - Rooney. It seems AS Monaco are keen to gazump Paris Saint-
Germain as the big-spenders in Ligue 1... if they get there. Currently in Ligue 2, 2004 European Cup finalists Monaco are gunning for promotion back to France's top flight next season and they are hoping to add a number of high-profile names to their squad. According to the Daily Star, Monaco have opened talks with Manchester United to sign Rooney in the summer, insisting they will blow any other offer "out of the water". Tevez and Rooney could reunite after spending three years together at Old Trafford, but Monaco will have a difficult time prising both players away from their current clubs. If Rooney does decide to leave, PSG, Anzhi Makachkala and Bayern Munich have all reportedly been keeping tabs on him.

Talk of Roberto Mancini being booted out of Etihad Stadium at season's end has cooled somewhat of late. But the Italian has been reassured he will not be short of offers if he decides to leave Manchester City, with Zenit St Petersburg interested in seeing him in Russia, the Mirror reports. Current Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti has come under fire this season with his side sitting in third place. It doesn't seem like cause for concern but given the club spent £64 million on recruits last summer, they see anything but the Russian Premier League title as a failure. If Mancini parts ways with City, Zenit are ready to pounce.

Brighton boss and former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet has often been touted as Rafa Benitez's replacement at Stamford Bridge, but the Uruguayan's introduction to the Premier League could be very different with the Mirror reporting he could take charge of Reading. Following the sacking of Brian McDermott, Poyet has become part of a long list of possible replacements, but he is believed to be in stiff competition with Paolo Di Canio for the top job.
