Harambee Stars, Eagles plot strategies with home, foreign players

For the March 23 World Cup qualifier against Kenya’s Harambee Stars in Calabar, Stephen Keshi released a list of 24 home based players expected to battle for shirts against an expected 15 foreign based players.
Keshi’s opposite, Adel Amrouche equally has 29 home based for the clash, according to reports.
Just like Keshi plans to trim the number down in the lead up to the cracker, the reports said Amrouche also plans to trim the home based down to 15 players,who would later an expected six foreign players prior to the clash.

Addressing his players while opening camp in Nairobi Thursday, Amrouche was quoted to have told the home based to harness the opportunity to wear the national colour, insisting that selection for the match against the Eagles would purely be on merit.
He emphasised that effort put in by players during training was the main factor to determine who dresses for the match. Experts are however not giving the Kenyans any chance against a star- studded Eagles team still to be dominated by foreign based players as Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and the rest
Meanwhile, coach Tony Ukeachu has hailed the upward swing in number of home based players named by Stephen Keshi for the tie. He said the move would yet expose more talents.
Ukeachu urged those who have the opportunity to draw inspiration from players like Sunday Mbah and Godfrey Oboabona.
“They should use the opportunity by giving the best contributions to the success of the team.
Those who fly high will encourage others and the coaches,” Ukeachu said, adding that “no matter what the Kenyans think, I am still giving victory to the Eagles.”
