Study Shows How Bad Sleep Can Ruin Your Relationship + Tips To Get Your Good Sleep Back

If there was any doubt as to how much of an impact sleep has on your life, work and relationships, this study underlines the importance of a good night’s rest.
Photo: How bad sleep may ruin relationships
Conducted by the University of California, Amie Gordon and Serena Chen found that just one night’s poor sleep can damage your relationship.
In the research, reported Psyblog, 78 couples were tracked over a two-week period. Each day the couples were asked to make notes about their sleep quality and any arguments they’d had with their partners that day. The results showed that even for those who were good sleepers, just a single night’s poor sleep showed an increase in arguments and conflict the next day.
“For the first time, to our knowledge, we can see the process of how the nature, degree, and resolution of conflict are negatively impacted by poor sleep,” said Chen, a professor of psychology at UC Berkeley.

The Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police has arrested a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, who was declared wanted by the unit on June 19, 2013 in connection with the case of obtaining the sum of N130m from one Cajethan Okekearu.
The SFU said in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Isintume-Agu, on Tuesday that the ex-deputy governor was arrested at her Lagos Island residence.
The police alleged that the 67-year-old suspect connived with her son, Samson Ojikutu Jnr, who is currently in United States, to commit the fraud.
The statement read in part, “The suspect and her son were parties to the sale of the land and both signed the agreement given to the Complainant and obtained the sum of N130 million from him.
“She admitted the crime but claimed that it was a genuine mistake of plot identification. She refunded the sum of N50m to the complainant and promised to refund the balance as soon as she disposed her two properties she put up for sale. She also confessed that she had injected the Complainant’s money in her business.
“She equally made an undertaking and payment plan, which was drawn from September 2012 and was to terminate by November 2012, but she defaulted due to lack of fund.”

Swansea Fires Manager Michael Laudrup

The Dane struggled to recapture last season’s feat this term, winning just eight Premier League games in his last 34, since he led the Welsh club to Capital One Cup success last year.
Swansea have confirmed that “Garry Monk will take up the reigns as head coach alongside current first team coach Alan Curtis for the foreseeable future.”
The club’s chairman said: “It is a decision we have taken reluctantly. But it’s a decision made in the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and our supporters.
“It is the first time in nearly 10 years that the club has parted with a manager in this way, but we had to remove the constant uncertainty surrounding the club and Michael’s long-term future with us.
“I had a meeting with Michael today in a final attempt to support him and establish a way to improve the work of the backroom team to secure the results we need over the final 14 Premier League games.
“However, after thinking long and hard about the best way forward, I felt it was unlikely we would achieve a stable environment at the club to allow us to get back to basics and produce the performance levels that have served Swansea City so well over the last few years.
“Now we need to put that uncertainty behind us and move forward as a united football club on all fronts, while placing on record our gratitude to Michael for the work he has done over the last 18 months and wish him well for the future.”
The Swansea chairman concluded: “I hope all our supporters can fully understand how difficult this period has been for us and I would urge everyone connected to the football club to get behind Garry Monk, the staff and players.”
