“One Thing I Regret Most Is That I'm Divorced" -Actress, Monalisa

When it comes to beauty in Nollywood, one of the names that will quickly come to mind is that of Monalisa Chinda.
But the unfortunate thing about her is that she is presently living alone. Her marriage to Dejo Richards packed up few years ago due to some irreconcilable differences.
While she alleged that Dejo physically abused her in the marriage, those in the camp of her ex-husband denied that, alleging that she caused the seperation.

Though Dejo has since married another woman, Monalisa has remained unmarried, though she was recently romantically linked with Lagos socialite, Lanre Nzeribe. The relationship is being kept under the carpet with none of the two denying or confirming the romance tale.

In a recent interview, Monalisa confessed her regrets having to raise the only product of her marriage with Dejo Richards. The union produced Tamar, a beautiful daughter.

According to the UNIPORT Theatre Arts graduate, “one thing I regret most is the fact that I am divorced. That's the only thing I regret, having to raise my child without the father.”

She further added that, “it is a bit painful. But I have to live with it. It's better that way than to expose my little daughter to all sorts of domestic violence. It will definitely affect her upbringing. She will be dis-functional. God knows the best. Maybe, I should have been more careful.”

Though, the late Nigerian artiste is gone but can never be forgotten! Her properties will be auctioned to the general public on the 1st of May 2013. The sale of her property is to raise funds for “Project Alert on Violence Against Women” NGO.

Project Alert is a non-governmental women’s rights organisation set up to provide information on all forms of violence against women and render support services to female victims of violence. Project Alert is being established to play this critical role. Ideal as it may seem to affiliate Project Alert to one of the already existing women’s rights organisation, this will only succeed in further playing down the importance and seriousness of these issues. Violence against women is a cog in the wheel of this country’s development process.

The public will be informed of the address of where this auction will take place as soon as possible.

How I Organised A N4.6 Million Robbery From My Petrol Station – Manager

Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, Adeniji Adele, Lagos, have arrested the manager of a petrol station located in Ojokoro area of Lagos, for allegedly masterminding the robbery operation in his company where N4.6 million was carted away, last week.
Preliminary investigation by the operatives showed that the suspect, Ade Ilesanmi, allegedly connived with three members of a robbery gang to dispossess the company’s supervisor of the amount, while on her way to the bank.
The robbers, as gathered, stormed the petrol station on two motorcycles, shooting indiscriminately before snatching the money from the station’s supervisor, identified simply as Mary.

“My share of the amount was supposed to be N1.5 million. But since the operation, they never contacted me. Now I am made to suffer all alone,” said the 33 year-old man.

Govt Should Use ‘Boko Halal’ To Address Boko Haram – Soyinka

Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka has advised the Federal Government and government at all levels to use quality education to address the nation’s growing illiteracy, noting that it is lack of education that breeds sinister groups like the Boko Haram.
Prof Soyinka made this remark on Monday, while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, where he noted that Halal is the opposite of Haram.
He commended the state government for winning and hosting the World Book Capital city next year, stressing that both the state and the country will benefit from the festival.
Prof Soyinka suggested that the slogan ‘Nigeria is Boko Halal’ should be adopted as the campaign slogan for the World Book Capital.
“When they (Boko Haram insurgents) say Boko Haram, we say Boko Halal” he said.
He explained that Halal; an Islamic term designating any object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, means “virtue, goodness and peace.”

Making money from undeveloped land

Abiodun Doherty
It is amazing that many have unused land in their hands without making money from it or using it profitably in any way. The common idea is that buying land is good and the longer you hold it the higher the value goes. This is true.
As some investors say ‘land does not eat’, meaning that you can buy a piece of undeveloped land and do nothing on or with it and still make money because it gains value. However, this is not entirely right or strategic in many instances.
An asset is not only something that gains value but also something that puts money in your pocket. In the world of money, cash flow is king. Your purchase of land is an investment which should not only give you capital appreciation but cash flow or income value.

Dear CAB readers: I cheated on my husband and I plan to continue

From a CAB reader
I have been the angry, unsatisfied and bitter wife for the last nine years. I'm married to a man who has absolutely no respect for the marriage institution. He has had more girlfriends than I have changed my hair since we got married. He started cheating on me months after our wedding in 2004 when I was pregnant. And it hasn't stopped ever since. Every other day a different girl, a different situation, a lot of drama. Initially he would lie or try to cover up when I ask him questions or catch him but now he tells me to go to hell and leave the marriage if I was no longer satisfied.
Well, I have four kids and I don't plan to be a single mother in this kind of environment so I'm staying put in my marriage but I'm done being the victim. Yes, I have started cheating on my husband. I am proud to say I have a boyfriend who I have regular, satisfying sex with. And I have absolutely no plans of being the faithful wife ever again. Once this affair ends, I'm starting a new one. There's no going back now. As long as he's cheating on me, I will be cheating on me. I smile a lot these days and it's not just Jesus putting the smile on my face. This is the happiest I have been in at least 8 years. And I also discovered that quite a number of my female friends have been cheating on their husbands for years now. Why didn't anyone give me the memo sooner? Just thought to share my happy story. Xoxo Happy Lagos wife.

Nigeria's First lady's Patience Faka Jonathan, has deteriorated again, becoming so critical that she has been from a proposed official visit to Namibia and South Africa to be embarked upon by her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan.
Sources in Aso Rock said Mr. Jonathan will fly out for the four-day junket to the two Southern African countries on May 5, and return to Abuja on the 10th. Medical sources stated that Mrs. Jonathan remained unwell after returning from Germany about three weeks ago. She had stated that her trip, which started on March 17 from Paris took her through Italy to Germany where she claimed she tendered to her foster mother, "Mama Sisi."
Since returning from that trip, the First Lady has remained under medical observation at the presidential villa.
Her latest trip to Germany is the third medical trip since her prolonged trip last year where she spent several months in a Wiesbaden hospital, although she denied those details upon her return.
In a thanksgiving service in February, she confessed her travails, including nine surgeries within one month, and declaring she had died but was saved by God.
The presidency has refused to disclose the exact nature of her ailment, but medical sources say she is suffering from a deadly ailment that may be manageable.

President Jonathan's Chief Protocol Officer And Over 100 Directors At The Foreign Ministry Refuse To Retire

Directors at Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs are refusing to retire after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years, sources have said.
Several Ministry workers confirmed that the directors, with the approval of the Minister, Ambassador Gbenga Ashiru, have been campaigning against retirement, claiming that if about 100 of them retired by January 2014, the Ministry will collapse.
The sources, speaking anonymously, told our reporter that the decision of the aging directors to remain in office is hurting staff morale as junior directors are made to feel they are incompetent and stand no chance of moving up the ladder.
The reality of the situation hit them on Sunday when Olutola John Onijala, State Chief of Protocol (SCOP) to President Goodluck Jonathan, turned 60 but showed up in office to continue work today.
As a civil servant, he should have been retired from the service according to the statute, but for reasons beyond anybody's comprehension, President Jonathan is alleged to have been misled into allowing Mr. Onijala to stay on.

The child, Maya Koistinen, died on April 8. The father, Bradley Koistinen, called 911 at about 6:45 a.m. after he said he found Maya lying next to her mother, not breathing, KPHO reported. Maya died at the hospital, and an autopsy of the baby showed signs that she might have suffocated.
Koistinen initially told investigators that she fell asleep while nursing the infant, but during a second interview on April 25, she "admitted to purposely smothering the baby to death," according to documents obtained by ABC 15.
She claims she did it because she was jealous that husband, Bradley, was giving too much attention to the victim. She also allegedly claimed that she already had too many kids.
According to Child Protective Services records, Nina Koistinen has made comments in the past about "wanting to smother" some of her kids, the Phoenix New Times reported. Records also state that after a car crash that appeared to be intentional, Koistinen said she wanted her children to go to heaven.
Bradley Koistinen maintains his wife is innocent.

Stress During Pregnancy, Heart Risk for Baby?

Large Danish study looked at women who had lost a close relative while expecting
MONDAY, March 25 (HealthDay News) -- Stress in mothers before and during pregnancy may boost the risk of congenital heart defects in their children, more new evidence suggests. But the findings aren't conclusive, and the effect -- if it exists -- appears to be small.
Still, "there are several studies now that show an association," said Dr. Edward McCabe, senior vice president and medical director of the March of Dimes, who is familiar with the results of the large new study. "It suggests there needs to be continued investigation of this."
McCabe said he's not aware of any other research linking stress in mothers to a specific kind of birth defect.

Wenger commited to Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger has dismissed speculation linking with him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the off-season.
The Arsenal boss has been widely linked with a switch to the Parc Des Princes, with current PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti expected to leave at the end of the campaign.
But Wenger, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in June 2014, has insisted that he has no intention of making an early exit.
“I’m preparing for the next match and next season with Arsenal,” Wenger said after his side’s 1-1 draw with Premier League champions Manchester United.
“I’ve always seen my contracts through, and it’s not at my age that I’m going to change.”
Wenger had been the subject of much ire from Arsenal fans earlier in the season, with many supporters unhappy with the lack of significant investment in players and a paucity of success since their FA Cup win in 2005.
A run of just one defeat in their last 13 matches looks to have calmed tensions, with Wenger’s side in a good position to ensure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
These recent results have led to reports in the French press that the Arsenal hierarchy is set to hand Wenger significant financial backing in the next transfer window.

Stop Running Post HND, PGD Programmes, FG Warns Polytechnics

Abuja – The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai, has warned polytechnics undertaking the post-graduate diploma programmes to stop, saying it is not part of their mandate.
Rufai gave the warning on Monday in Abuja at the inauguration of the governing councils for the National Teachers Institute, National Educational Research Development Council, 15 federal polytechnics and 19 federal colleges of education.
She directed that henceforth, no polytechnic convocation would hold without issuance of certificates to graduating students.
The minister also ordered that the provosts and registrars of colleges of education must sign NCE certificates as obtained in polytechnics and universities.
“The provosts and registrars of colleges of education should sign NCE certificates as obtained in polytechnics and universities.
“Issuance of certificates to graduating students is a prerequisite for approval for holding convocations; thus no certificate, no convocation,” she directed.
While addressing the inaugurated council members, Rufai urged them to encourage responsive and responsible unionism in their respective institutions and arrest problems of cultism, drug abuse and other social vices among students.

BlepharitisThere are two types of blepharitis. Seborrheic blepharitis is often part of an overall skin condition called seborrhea, which may also affect the scalp, chest, back and the area behind the ears.

The second form of blepharitis - staph blepharitis - is a more common condition, caused by bacteria, that begins in childhood and may continue through adulthood.

Hormones, nutrition, general physical condition, and even stress may contribute to seborrheic blepharitis. Build-ups of naturally occurring bacteria contribute to staph blepharitis.
Blepharitis could be described as dandruff of the eyelids. Seborrheic blepharitis causes redness of the eyelids, flaking and scaling of the eyelashes, and greasy, waxy scales. Staph blepharitis also causes redness of the eyelid margins and flaking of the lashes, and can cause loss of eyelashes, eyelid scarring, and red eye.
Eyelid scrubs with baby shampoo or a specially formulated cleaner can reduce the symptoms of blepharitis. Application of hot packs to the eyes daily can also help. Staph blepharitis may also require antibiotic drops or ointments. The use of artificial tears is often helpful to relieve associated discomfort or dryness.

Treatments for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

Don't try to treat a sexually transmitted disease, or STD, yourself. These diseases are contagious and serious. You must see a doctor.
Bacterial STDs can be cured with antibiotics if treatment begins early enough. Viral STDs cannot be cured, but you can manage symptoms with medications. There is a vaccine against hepatitis B, but it will not help if you already have the disease.

Recommended Related to Sexual Conditions

The most important way for your health care provider to diagnose a sexual problem is to listen carefully to the story you tell, review the list of medications and substances you use (including natural remedies) to track whether your sexual dysfunction is connected with them, and try to determine whether your difficulties are recent or long-standing. It's also important for your health care provider to understand your level of knowledge about your body and about sexuality. The health care provider...

Ex-Ghana FA chief Ben Koufie plans to make a recommendation to FIFA to ban Nigeria and Ivory Coast from playing at the U-17 World Cup for age cheating.
Koufie says he will make a recommendation to the world football’s governing body to ban countries from age-group competitions if any of their players fail age tests.
Magnetic Resonance Image scans have been used by both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football to check on the true ages of players as the clampdown on age cheats intensifies.
Nine players were banned from the African U-17 event after failing tests.
The players hailed from Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Congo.
